Who is the Manufacture of Sour Patch Kids?

The manufacturer of Sour Patch Kids is Mondelez International Food Service. They introduced the soft gummy candy to their product range in 1985. And it’s the Sour Patch Kids range of theatre boxes that became popular with filmgoers.

Since then, it has become the go-to American Sweets for a trip to the cinema and one of our customer favourites here at The Kandy King.

Our wide range of wholesale theatre Boxes is perfect for shop owners who want to give their customers an alternative way to enjoy Sour Patch Kids.

Although they were introduced to the US by Mondelez International Food Service in 1985, it was in 1970 that they were first produced in Ontario, Canada.

However, back then, they were based on a product called ‘Mars Men’, created by a man named Frank Galatolie.

I think you can agree that, although they may have changed slightly since then, they have kept the playful character alive!

Are Sour Patch Kids made by Maynards in the UK?

As we now know, it’s Mondelez International that now makes this soft and chewy candy. However, in Canada (and previously in the UK), Sour Patch Kids are known as Maynards Sour Patch Kids.

Why is this?

Well, since 2016, Maynards Bassett has been owned by Mondelez International Food Service after it purchased Cadbury in 2010.

Therefore the name was used in Canada and the UK until it was later dropped for the shorter and simpler name of Sour Patch Kids.

It’s a little bit confusing we know, but all that matters is that they are the same friendly, fruity, chewy, sour (then sweet) soft candy you are familiar with.

How are Sour Patch Kids made in factories?

As you can imagine, the process of creating these fun-loving sweets is quite a task.

And certainly not one we are going to try and explain in this short article.

However, the good news is, that this great video from Fast Food Factory provides a really good insight into how Sour Patch Kids are made in factories, along with other similar sour gummy sweets.

Make sure you give their video a like!
